Finally was able to visit them after driving past on the highway many times. Classic Jersey hot dog spot. I can see why people like to reminisce. Simple, straightforward food, service and eating area. Ordered a plain and chili cheese. The relish was ok but the chili cheese was great. Not fan of the bread. Bit on the dry side. Overall a nice spot for a quick meal. Stay alive Rutt's Hut. Recommended!

What can you say about Rutt's Hut that hasn't been said a thousand times before? It's a New Jersey institution. They experienced some rough times during the pandemic, when they had to shut down their dining room, but now it's open again and the food is as good as it's always been. Most people will never have anything other than their rightfully famous "Rippers" and an order of onion rings or fries, but Rutt's actually has a pretty diverse menu, including Roast Long Island Duckling with Orange Sauce, which is surprisingly good (although I wouldn't recommend you getting that to eat in your car). Even if you decide to just stick with the Rippers, definitely pile on some of their special relish, which remains a secret recipe. What most people don't know is that they can get a pint or even a quart of the relish to take home. It won't make the hotdogs from your backyard barbeque taste like a Ripper, but it will get you 80% of the way there. Almost as good as the food, is the vibe at Rutt's Hut. The parking lot is almost perpetually full, and the outdoor counters are always filled with people who don't know each, but are happily chatting as they eat elbow to elbow. Nobody's ever in a bad mood at Rutt's Hut and it's one of the few places in New Jersey where everyone always seems happy. Of course, that vanishes once they leave the parking lot, so enjoy it while you're there.

Rutt's Hut is THE place to go for hotdogs, hamburgers and everything else. They have different types of ways to order your hot dogs. In and out which is just quickly fried and taken out, the ripper which means they leave it in until it rips open, and the most fried is the cremator. Do not order the cremator unless you basically want it burned to a crisp. Personally I like the ripper but every so often I'll go for the cremator because it's so crispy on the outside but still has the softness of the hotdog on the inside. Don't forget to throw on the relish either. It is so dang good. You want your hamburger or cheeseburger dipped? (In gravy) no problem! They got you and their gravy is SO good. The environment is so welcoming and homey. It's old school style which personally I like. Everyone who has ever helped us has always been so nice. We brought my family from out of state and they always ask to go. We love Rutt's Hut so much that we ordered a ton of hotdogs and hamburgers for my daughter's first birthday. (We even got the relish!) Rutt's Hut is such a staple that when we told people where we were getting our hotdogs and hamburgers from they got really excited. They even asked if we were getting relish. Seriously though... if you want amazing food, including fries, onion rings, etc... go to Rutt's you won't be disappointed!

So yummy and so full! They have beers but I went traditional with a root beer. I ate at the standing only counter side where there aren't chairs. The chili was yummy on its own and they allow you to order hotdogs with the chili on it. The gentleman at the counter was very lovely but I was with a local Jersey person so my order was done by my friend. The onions were the best onion rings! EVER! Ohh last but not least - hot dog - so crunchy and chewy and juicy! I liked it a lot with the hot relish and the mustard. I did wish that I had a three chambered stomach to more :/ If you want to sit, there is the dining room entrance on your left side when you park.

Rutt's Hut is a dive bar for dive food, specifically a deep-friend hotdog that makes you want to salute an American flag. Inside the hut are quite a few tables, though at lunch time they filled up very quickly. There's also a large bar that didn't have many folks at it, surprisingly. The dogs themselves are unique - I found myself wishing mine were cooked longer. That said, they still hit the spot, with a tasty skin that is accentuated by the frying. The sides we got, including cheese fries and onion rings, were pretty bland and underwhelming. It's also worth noting for those of us who drink a lot of liquid that the soda/water glasses are rather tiny. Fortunately the waiter while we were there was on top of the glasses and kept them filled.

Rutt's Hut is an institution! Classic, old school food and vibes. We met the owner who was wonderful. The toughest choice is deciding between rice pudding and bread pudding (we got both)! Really recommend this place if you're in the area.

Still the best around. It's like going into a time machine and going back to the 1950s. Prices are still very reasonable, wood paneling is still there, and cold beers are still flowing.

Great hot dog spot for what it is! First time trying a ripper too! Chili here was mediocre by itself but taste better with the hotdog! Great place to get something quick but it is cash only
